A Sunday Drive....

Our Sunday morning started a little different that most...
...we planned a "Sunday Drive" to West Burlington.

We picked up a little "breakfast energy" for the drive...
...some YUMMY blended coffee drinks from Caribou Coffee!

The most important reason for our Sunday drive,
was so that we could attend service at The United Methodist Church
in West Burlington...this is where our nephew Tim, serves as pastor.

This is a photo of Tim with his sister, Erin, at our wedding September 1996.
The shortest of the groomsmen (and shorter than his sister too!)

Tim has not only grown into a wonderful husband and father
but he has grown into a man of God that has a beautiful gift
of sharing The Gospel to friends, family and his congregation.

After service, we delivered an air hockey table and
this "monkey bike" below to Tim's home.

My great-nephew, Parker, was a natural at riding
the "monkey bike" and my great-niece, Macyn,
enjoyed checking it out too!

Tim has a beautiful family and his wife, Meredith,
is such a blessing as well.

Their youngest, Beckett, was enjoying the day too...what a smile!

Even though we don't get to see Tim and his family as often
as we would like to...it's a comfort to know that God is working
in their lives and that He has blessed Tim and Meredith
with three beautiful children....such a joy!

On our way out of town, Steve spotted the Sterzing's Potato Chip
factory and because Steve is such a huge fan...

...we had to stop so that he could get his photo taken by the factory.

Talk about someone that is dedicated to his chips...

...that's my Steve!  Love you, honey!!

It was a rainy Sunday drive, but I thought the clouds
looked so beautiful, I could not resist taking a photo of them.

We decided to find a place along the Mississippi River for lunch
and spotted "Big Muddy's"...it was pretty good!

After lunch, we took a walk along the river
and then we headed home.

Another reason for our Sunday drive, was to pick up this
9' church pew that Tim and Meredith had found for us.

It still needs some paint or stain, but I was eager to see what it
looked like in our home.  Lots of possibilities here....love it!

On our walk along the river in Burlington, we came across a gift shop
that had "Sterzing's" t-shirts for sale and of course Steve
was all over getting one of those....how funny!

A rainy, but beautiful Sunday drive filled with adventure and laughter....

...and an heart-filled service given by our nephew, Tim.

Peace and Hope in Him....God is GOOD!

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:1-5

Dinner with "Erin" and Family...

I am blessed to have these two beautiful ladies in our family...
...my niece, Erin (left) and step-daughter, Erin (right)

My niece, Erin, allowed me to be an Aunt in the 2nd grade back in 1982.

Along came my step-daughter, Erin, when she decided
it was time to meet her dad back in 2001.

Tonight we shared a meal and with both
of these ladies and their families.

It is truly a JOY to see what wonderful wives
and mothers both have become!

My great-niece, Lucy, getting ready to dive into her hot dog!

Miss Molly...my other great-niece digging into brownie for dessert!

And my step-granddaughter, (yes, I am a grandma!) Gracie,
stylin' with her pink fork filled with dinner!

What a beautiful reminder of how important family is in our lives!

I looked up the meaning of the name "Erin" and this
is one description I found...

"People with the name "Erin" tend to initiate events, to be leaders rather than followers, with powerful personalities. They tend to be focused on specific goals, experience a wealth of creative new ideas, and have the ability to implement these ideas with efficiency and determination. They tend to be courageous and  creative individuals.

Both of these women have a lot of the characteristics
of their name as mentioned above and I am truly thankful
for their steadfast love and boldness.

Thanks for a really fun night filled with food, family and fun.
Love you both very much!

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
Proverbs 31:28-29

Let The Good Times Roll...

Steve and I went to "Faith Day" at
The Cedar Rapids Kernels Game Sunday afternoon.

Thankfully the rain held off and it was a really fun day!

So many choices for food and beverages!
We decided on brats...YUM!

And we "rolled in" on Steve's motorcycle....a windy but FUN ride!

Watching the game is entertaining, but watching the
mascot, "Shucks" was pretty funny too!

After the game, a Christian Band, "Mikes Chair" gave a concert.
This was in conjunction with "Faith Day" and the radio station,
Life 101.9 with their effort to collect money and non-perishable
food items for local food pantries in our area.

We connected some friends from church too,
which was a pleasant surprise!

A beautiful time to "Let the Good Times Roll!"

The concert was a blast!

I could not resist taking a photo of this adorable little boy...

...he was having SO much fun dancing and it's such a joy
to see "the wonder" in a child's eyes!

One of the songs by Mikes Chair is entitled,
"All I Can Do (Thank You)"

(click on photo below to hear the song)

It is all we can do...to say "thank you" to God
for the hope that we have in Him!

Thank you, Steve, for all that YOU do to make our life beautiful!

So very blessed to have such a wonderful
husband to "ride through life" with!

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:17

Taco Tuesday...

When I met Steve 18 years ago we started a Tuesday evening
"Date Night" tradition...Taco Tuesday at Taco Johns!

Steve was living in The Glenbrook Centre Apartments at the time...

...so it was an easy walk from his apartment to Taco Johns!

Steve...I am blessed that we have this "date night" tradition!

Even though we might not make it there every week,
it is still a JOY to share this time with YOU!

This song by Eric Church has been
near and dear to our hearts lately...

(click on the photo below to listen to the song)

May we all be as forgiving as LOVE like Jesus does!

If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.

The Simple Joys of Motherhood...

As we celebrate the "Moms" in our lives today,
it reminds me of the importance of the "simple joys" of life...

Today some of our family gathered at our home
to share a meal and celebrate the day...

Here is our great-niece, Lucy...ENJOYING the SUNSHINE!

"The Grill Master" Steve did a fabulous job grilling our meal!

And here is Miss Molly enjoying some YUMMY food!

We wrapped up our meal by making ice cream sundaes...YUM!

Here's Mom (Erin) helping her daughter,
Miss Lucy with her "beautiful creation!"

With sticky fingers (and table and chair too) Molly dove
right into her ice cream...now that is a JOYFUL sight!

Lucy met our next-door neighbor, Kathy, who was so kind
enough to share some flowers from her beautiful garden!

"The happiness of life is made up of little things...
...a smile, a hug and a moment of shared laughter."

My prayer is that your Mother's Day was filled with
simple joys, laughter, family, friends and LOVE!

Love each other and take delight in honoring each other.
